It seems like everyone loves pizza and nothing tastes as good as pizza in the backcountry. Actually, it isn’t that difficult to cook a pizza over an open fire. You could do it in a dutch oven or in aluminum foil. Keep reading because we’ll show you an easy way to cook a backpacking pizza on your next camping trip.
What you’ll need:
At camp, build a campfire. Once you have plenty of hot coals, let the fire burn down so you can cook on the coals or pull a few coals away from the hot fire. Put some olive oil on the pizza crust, then add pizza sauce, shredded cheese and peperoni. Place the pizza on the aluminum foil and fold all of the edges to keep the heat in. Then place the pizza on the coals. It should cook within 5 to 10 minutes depending on how hot your coals are. After it is cooked, pull the pizza off of the coals and enjoy.
