Baffin Babes Training for the ArcticWe hear about men doing these types of expeditions, but it isn't every day that we get news of an all-female team of explorers.

The Baffin Babes are just that - a group of four adventurous women who are taking an 80-day ski expedition through Baffin Island.

In March, the Baffin Babes - Vera and Emma Simonsson of Sweden and Ingebjoerg Tollefsen and Kristin Folsland Olsen of Norway - will begin their 870-mile journey on skis to record the effects of global warming on the remote Arctic island. They'll be stopping at three Inuit villages along the way.

The women have been training for months at home and in Greenland to ensure they'll be strong enough to pull all their gear and supplies behind them in pulkas (storage sleds). They've set up a blog and an expedition page to keep us updated on their trip and are accepting donations to help offset travel costs.

We wish them the best on their journey and will be sure to follow along!
