Today is National Bike to Work Day and we've got bikes on the brain here at Sierra Trading Post.
As I was looking for something fun and bike-alicious to write about today, I found this photo post on BikeHugger about a pedal-powered rollercoaster.
I've never seen anything like it. The Skycycle is an entirely human-powered bicycle rollercoaster in Okayama, Japan, where you sit down, strap in and pedal your way up, over, around and through the treetops. (It's actually more of an elevated bike trail, but it definitely looks like a rollercoaster.)
The Skycycle uses zero electricity (except the night lights) and gives riders a good workout and an incredible view of the city and the bay. It doesn't look too scary, but apparently there's at least one slightly terrifying part - "the turn of fear." Sounds awesome.
I think all U.S. cities should install Skycycles immediately.
On another note, did you ride your bike to work today for Bike to Work Day? Tell us how it was below!
