When it comes to holidays, Halloween tops the list for spending money on disposable things - like costumes and sugary treats. But a recent poll shows people are spending less money this year on Halloween than they have in a long time - down to $56.31 a person from $66.31 a person last year.
But no matter what else people cut back on - haunted houses, hayrides, costumes, decorations - people are still buying brand name candy.
I suppose candy is like outdoor gear and apparel - generic knock offs just don't cut it. No little kid wants to get a generic candy bar in his Halloween bag. (And I certainly don't want a generic performance fleece in mine.) It just goes to show you that quality counts - whether it be Halloween candy, a new soft shell jacket, a climbing harness, a pair of snowboard boots or a pair of skis. Long-lasting quality you can trust is worth the extra dollar every time.
