Chocolate Sherpa a SuccessChocolate Sherpa, the Belgian adventure expedition led by Phillip Louis-Loncke, has successfully completed its mission to offer the highest-ever chocolate tasting at Everest Base Camp.

(We told you on Easter about the Chocolate Sherpa mission and how Loncke and company were trekking from Kathmandu to Everest Base Camp with a bunch of Belgian chocolate.)

The team arrived in Everest Base Camp (EBC) on May 1st, where they handed out over 220 pounds of chocolate to sherpas and mountaineers. Many climbers, who happened to be stranded at Everest Base Camp due to weather, were also fortunate to take part in the free chocolate tasting (well worth a delayed summit attempt if you ask me).

The trip to EBC wasn't without its difficulties. One member of the team actually had to leave base camp within two hours of arriving due to altitude sickness, something each member of the team struggled with at different points in the trip.

Chocolate Sherpa isn't just about chocolate - it's about raising funds for a mobile hospital in Nepal, something that's badly needed due to the remote location of many of the region's people. The Chocolate Sherpa team presented the idea at base camp and are accepting donations on their website. Hopefully they'll get the money they need to get the project off the ground.
