Lance Armstrong's Bike StolenThe Tour de California got off to a rough start for Lance Armstrong yesterday, whose one-of-a-kind time trial bike (pictured) was stolen out of the Astana Team's truck some time Saturday night.

The bike - the only one like it in the world - was stolen along with three others. If you see it around town, (or on eBay) be sure to get in touch with Lance via his Twitter feed. He has another bike to ride, of course, but there is a reward for the stolen one.

The 1st leg of the Tour de California, 107 miles from Davis to Santa Rosa, was held yesterday, Feb. 15th. The final leg, on Feb. 22nd, from Rancho Bernardo to Escondido, is new in 2009 and the toughest leg ever in the Tour de California. It includes an 11.7 mile climb up and over Palomar Mountain and should be as exciting to watch as it is tough to ride.

In other Lance news... Armstrong's trainer Chris Carmichael, says Lance might be competing in the Ironman Kona this year. The article, on Slowtwitch.com, includes a training video of Lance in Hawaii with comments from Carmichael about the possibility of Lance competing in the world's toughest triathlon. Check it out!

UPDATE: Lance's stolen bike was turned into police yesterday by an unidentified man who is not considered a suspect. "A local resident came to the police headquarters and turned in a bicycle that he believed to be Lance Armstrong's," said Sgt. Norm Leong, a spokesman for the Sacramento Police Department.

The other two bikes that were stolen out of the truck have not yet been returned.
