Quality controlSierra Trading Post would be nothing without the support and loyalty of our customers. From day one, (over 23 years ago) we’ve put our customers first and have always believed that to be the key to our success.

To test our theory, we decided to reach out to our most loyal friends, those who have been shopping with us for years. We wanted to get to know them, hear their stories and learn about their experiences with Sierra Trading Post. So we sent them each a letter asking them to share their MySTP Story, or the reason they’ve been shopping with us for so long. Here’s what a few different long-time customers had to say...

My STP Story: Customer Experiences

"I think that we have been buying from STP since the 80's. I remember the hand-drawn products in your catalog. I was also impressed that you did not take phone orders on Sundays. You have adapted well to selling on the Internet. Your search capabilities and availability alerts are excellent.

STP has been our main source of shoes and sandals: Earth, Rockport, Merrill, Ecco and others. You offered clothing brands with which I was unfamiliar, in particular, Patagonia. I still wear a sweatshirt and a lightweight jacket by Patagonia that I bought maybe 20 yrs. ago." - John Hesemann

"It's hard to believe it's been that long. At the time I received your first catalog I had already received the early Banana Republic catalog, which also had drawings of their products, rather than photos. I don't believe J. Peterman was around yet, but soon was. In any event, I was drawn to your drawings, the seconds and remaindered items (with labels removed), and the fact that you were located originally in Sparks, NV, where I had spent a very cold and lonely night on the eastern edge of town on old US 40 trying to catch a ride back east. It was September, 1960. I particularly favored your chambray work shirts, canvas jeans of various makes (even without labels it was possible to read the Eddie Bauer or Lands End, or LL Beane on the button). I still have a pair hanging in my closet. I keep looking for cotton canvas safari or bush jackets. Cotton is the preferred fabric... and I don't think I've bought a pair of shoes in a store for years. Rarely have I been disappointed in what I have purchased from you guys." - Andrew Gardner

"I love your website - it is so easy to follow, with the sizes and colors that are available clearly listed. Very high quality merchandise and it always arrives within a day or two!! You do a fantastic job - thank you!" - Lynn from Colorado

"I made a telephone order with Sierra. Your people are always personable as well as efficient, unlike many call center people these days. Anyway, as the Sierra person read back the charges, I thought she had made a mistake. "What about the free shipping?" I asked. Then I learned the mistake was mine. She explained, patiently and thoroughly, why my order did not qualify for free shipping. Then she said, "But Mr. Hoffman, you're a good customer, and I don't want to disappoint you. So, I'm going to see that your shipping charge is waived on this order.

A very nice surprise. But that's what I have come to expect from Sierra Trading Post."
- Arthur Hoffman
