Red Bull Brings Snowboarding to the Big AppleIf you're planning to be in New York City on February 5th, 2009, be on the lookout for a giant Red Bull Snowscraper and watch the top snowboarders in the world ride it for a chance to win $100,000.

Red Bull is sponsoring this massive event and has invited snowboarders like Shaun White, Pat Moore, and Travis Rice to the Big Apple for an urban snowboarding contest of extreme proportions.

Red Bull will create a 90 foot-high structure for top riders to own the iconic Manhattan skyline. The athletes will drop in from this nine-story height before flying off the specially constructed kicker toward an immense 80 foot-long hip, designed by Frank Wells and Mike Bettera of Snow Park Technology to allow riders multiple angles of trajectory— frontside or backside, landing on either the right or left side of the massive 45-degree spine.

The location is given only as "downtown New York City" right now - but I'm sure it won't be hard to find. There are only so many places one could build a 90-foot snowboard ramp in New York City.

Red Bull Snowscrapers exemplifies what Shaun White thinks snowboarding should be...

It's about having fun, with your friends or by yourself. It's about pushing yourself to try new things and do the unexpected. Finally, and most importantly, it's about being creative.
