Exercise Improves Focus and ConcentrationIf you need motivation, here's yet another reason to begin a new exercise plan or stay committed to your current one. Regular exercise, no matter what kind, improves your attention span and ability to focus on everything from small tasks to major undertakings.

Just like exercise improves mood and mental outlook, it also improves your brain's ability to concentrate. Regular exercise can improve your performance at work, at school and even at home.

Recent studies have shown that people who engage in aerobic exercise -- anything from ice-skating to taking a brisk walk -- at least two days a week -- have better concentration levels than do non-exercisers. "If you've been stuck at your desk all day and a quick walk around the block isn't an option, just stand up. This simple act tells your brain it's time to be awake and act alert," says Kathleen Nadeau, Ph.D in this article from Real Simple.

By flooding the brain with oxygen, raising dopamine levels, (which are crucial to concentration) and relieving stress, exercise naturally jump starts the brain. Use it to your advantage - when you're having trouble concentrating or feel like you've got a fuzzy brain, get some exercise. You'll immediately feel more alert.
