Blame it on the economy or on steep lift ticket prices - but ski pass fraud is up from last year at Vail Resorts.
There are a lot of stories going around this week about people trying to use a friend's pass - or even a fake pass - to get on the slopes for free. One woman tried to use her boyfriend's pass and when she got caught, she told officers she was undergoing a sex change. They didn't buy it and she was charged with theft and criminal impersonation, two things you don't want to be charged with when skiing (or ever).
Cases of ski pass fraud have more than doubled this year from last year, up from 82 to 188. Whether there are more people trying to ski for free or the resorts are just catching more people than before, no one knows.
Instead of not paying for a pass, why not just save money on your ski gear and apparel instead? You could use all the money you save buying your ski and snowboard gear at Sierra Trading Post (35-70%) on lift tickets or a pass. We've got everything you need for far less - and this way you won't end up with a criminal record. Great advice, I know!
