It's only October 10th, but today is the first official day of skiing in Colorado. That's right, Arapahoe Basin is open for business today with one run full of soft, fluffy, man-made snow.
For $45, you can ski the intermediate "Half Noon" run from mid mountain to bottom... and then head back down to Denver and put your shorts and flip flops on (should be about 75 degrees there all week). The past few nights have been cold in the mountains, though, and have allowed A-Basin snowmakers to successfully dust one run. A Basin has won the earliest-opening-day-of-the-season battle with neighboring Loveland ski area yet again... but this is the earliest opening day for either in 61 years.
Until the snow falls where you are, here's a sweet video to tide you over...
