Thanksgiving isn't just about eating - at Sierra Trading Post, it's also about running!
Runners of all ages and abilities took part in the Cheyenne COMEA House’s 5K Turkey Trot and Gobble Wobble, a fundraiser for the homeless shelter in Cheyenne held on November 7th. All Sierra Trading Post employees who participated were reimbursed half of the $20 entry fee as part of the employee wellness program and all entry fees were donated to give a “hand up” to the homeless in Cheyenne.
A group of six Sierra Trading Post employees and their kids and dogs took part in this year's race and, from the looks of it, they all had a great time.
“The best part about the race was that everyone was there to show their support for the shelter," says STP eCommerce Director Andy Newlin. "The race gives people who wouldn’t otherwise be involved with the shelter a chance to learn about all the good work they do there. I was impressed with the policies that the Comea Shelter puts into place to ensure that residents are drug-free and ambitious about getting back on their feet. Residents benefit from counseling and have clear goals on how to become self-sufficient again. It was great to see all of the residents, volunteers, and coordinators working together to ensure that everyone has a roof over their head and a hot meal.”
