Vail Resorts Offers Ski Pass Insurance

Ski season is right around the corner. If today's weather in Colorado is any indication, we could be skiing and snowboarding before you know it.
Now that we're thinking about snow (and all the fun ski and snowboard gear that comes with it), it's time to start thinking about ski passes.
For the first time ever, if you buy a ski pass to Vail Resorts, you can purchase insurance for it. For $20 ($10 for kids), you can protect your ski pass investment in case you get hurt, pregnant, laid off, transferred out of state or otherwise become suddenly unable to ski or snowboard this season.
If you make the claim before Nov. 15th, you'll be reimbursed the entire amount of the pass. If something happens after that date, Vail Resorts will pro-rate your refund according to how many days are left in the season.
Not a bad deal. Because a Vail Resorts ski pass (the Epic Pass is $599 and includes 6 mountains - Vail, Breckenridge, Keystone, Heavenly, A-Basin, and Beaver Creek) isn't exactly cheap, spending $20 to protect it makes sense. Of course, that $20 could also be spent on a new ski hat, ski goggles or ski gloves at Sierra Trading Post. Or put towards the purchase of a new ski jacket, ski boots or a new snowboard. But we'll let you work that out on your own.
