Double Decker Hair PullIn London yesterday 112 strangers hugged each other for one minute at St. Pancras Station. Were they just feeling affectionate? Nope, they were celebrating Guinness World Records Day by setting one themselves.

Around the world over 200,000 people marked the anniversary of the day in 2004 when Guinness Book of World Records sold 100 million copies to become the world's bestselling copyright title. For 24 hours yesterday, old records were smashed and new ones set.

From the serious to the silly, the Guinness Book has some edits and additions to make today. The Largest Cheerleading Dance was set by 297 cheerleaders from the Universal Cheerleading Association, the Largest Cup of Hot Chocolate (4 gallons, 11 inches tall - yum!) was poured in New York City, the Most Hula Hoops Hooped Simultaneously was set by 132 people on the CBS Early Show and someone in the UK pulled a double-decker bus 69 feet and 6 inches with their hair (!) to beat the record for Furthest Distance to Pull a Double-Decker Bus with the Hair (see photo above).

My favorite new world record was set by martial arts master Kenneth Lee for Most Apples Chopped in the Air Using a Sword in One Minute. Another good one is the Most People Sport Stacking Simultaneously which is being set today (hopefully) by 300,000 kids across the U.S.

I took part in the making of a Guinness world record once at a concert in Upstate New York for the Most People Doing the Same Dance at the Same Time - beating out the defending champ, the Macarena.

What world record could you set?
