Wakeboarder Takes Advantage of Venice FloodsVenice has been partially underwater since Monday as the surrounding sea level rose to its highest level in 22 years, stranding tourists and making a soggy mess of the partially sunken city.

But at least one person was enjoying the 5 feet of water that soaked Venice - Duncan Zuur of the Netherlands took the opportunity to wakeboard through the canals of Venice and across the famous Piazza San Marco on Tuesday.

Wakeboarder boards across Piazza de MarcoWhile tourists looked on and snapped photos in the Piazza, Zuur had a boat pull him across the square until police stepped in and put an end to it. Too bad - it looked like fun (although I'm sure it wasn't the safest thing to do). Anyone with a camera in hand (just about everyone) that day sure appreciated it.

This is not the first time Venice has flooded - the city on the sea routinely floods several times a year. Just not quite like this. But it doesn't seem to phase the Venetians - they just put on their hip waders and head to work. And we thought our commutes were draining.
