For most ski resorts around the country, this winter has been fairly disappointing in terms of snowfall so far. For Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in northwestern Wyoming, that all changed dramatically in late January. Apparently, it didn't just snow, it dumped a whopping 80 inches of pow in just 8 days!
Bob Comey, director of the Bridger Teton Avalanche Center, has seen a lot of snow dumps in his day, and even he was impressed. "It's one of the best storms we've had since I've been measuring snowfall here for the last 20 plus years," Comey said in a video shot on location in Jackson Hole late last month. To get a taste of what the skiing is like right now in Jackson, check out the video from KGB Productions.
How's the snow this month in your neck of the woods? Still sparse? If so, you might consider planning a trip out to Jackson Hole this winter. I've been snowboarding in Jackson twice over the years, and I can say from personal experience that it's one of the best resorts I've ever experienced. With 2,500 acres of in-bounds terrain and 4,139 feet of vertical rise, Jackson Hole makes my usual stomping grounds in Summit County, Colorado look tame by comparison.
