Congrats to Trey and his dad William for their winning submission! Their video, Trey’s Travels, has been chosen as the first-place winner of phase one in our three-part Share Your Adventure Video Contest. Way to go guys!

I spoke with William briefly about his video, and what prompted the trip. "My wife is a surgery resident, so she works insane hours," he told me. "But she had a week of vacation coming up and wanted to fly out to San Diego to visit her sister. I was looking at the cost to fly everybody out there, and I figured it wouldn't cost that much more in gas to just drive, and I had the time because I'm a freelance photographer. So I'd much prefer to drive and see the sights along the way. So that's what kind of prompted the whole trip."

"Mostly what I was doing on the trip was still photography, just to kind of expand my portfolio, but I would try to take a little video at each spot we stopped as well. In fact, a lot of the clips in the video are the only clips I got at each place we stopped."

Here's How to Enter...

We’re accepting videos of your adventures (new and old). Videos must be no longer than three minutes in length and must be your video. You can enter the contest by emailing a link to your video (no matter where it is on the web) to IScreamSocial@sierratradingpost.com. If yours is chosen as a finalist, we'll ask you for the source file and send you a release form.

We’ll announce contest finalists (as determined by our Sierra Trading Post judging panel)Â* Nov. 24, Dec. 8 and Dec. 22, 2010. Then we’ll announce the Grand Prize Winner (chosen by our social media audience) on Dec. 31, 2010.

In addition to a blog post with your winning video, we’ll also keep your video on our YouTube channel. By entering the contest, you are agreeing to let us use your content however we see fit for Sierra Trading Post’s promotional purposes. No purchase is necessary to enter the contest.
